Just out of complete curiosity, did I make the right choice?

My "Birds" entry that scored 5.9

This was my alternate. Didn't submit since I thought, righfully, that there would be quite a few peacock shots.

Did I make the right choice in submitting the dove?

I loved your original entry. 5.9 is decent when you realize the large amount of entries. Had I a choice between these two I would have gone with the white and with pride.

i think you made the right decision just on the fact that it is so different in subject and placement

what i should have wurked on and submitted

I'm glad I didn't have to make the choice. They're both great.

I definitely think you made the right choice.

Your original is best. Too many peacocks.

I really like them both! Technically, they are both excellent and very well presented and composed. I wouldn't second guess yourself here. Personally, I would have scored them both the same - 8

The dove was one of my higher rated images. The peacock would have been diluted by the many peacock shots in the challenge. Additionally whereas the detail is good on the peacock it is a fairly standard headshot with nothing to make it really stand out.

The dove was the right way to go IMO. Of course you never know with voters.

I agree with the others when I say I think you made the right choice. I really liked your photo and gave it an 8. It's different and has some character to it that the peacock, although a lovely photo in it's own right, just doesn't have based on the subject matter and the composition of the shots.

I think you made the right choice. There were several peacocks. Not that we knew that ahead of time, but I just like the overall capture of the dove much better. Why your scores were low, I have no idea. But I can't figure out where some people get their scoring anyway. Like I've said on other posts, it's all subjective. But I'd like to see what some of them rate a 10! Judy

Thanks for the comments folks. Nice to see that I posted the right one. I'm pretty happy with the score, although 6+ would have been great.

I think you made the right decision. The dove one has a really strong composition, and the black background contrasts nicely with the white dove. Beautifully done. I think it probably scored lower because of all the bird poop he's standing on/in -just kidding. But seriously, I thought it would've scored higher for technical merit alone, but maybe it wasn't enough "eye candy" for some.

The dove is a beautiful shot, in a much quieter way... the peacock is not as exciting as a picture, but it's more snazzy... for this reason I can't say for sure that the peacock wouldn't have done better, though I would personally have voted the dove higher by at least 2 points :).
It's a great shot, you must be quite pleased with it!

I think you definitely made the right choice. Your dove entry scored a 7 with me. As previously stated, the competition was FIERCE in the Birds Challenge. I love peacocks (grew up with peacocks and a variety of other fowl), but your dove shot is superior (IMHO) to your shot of the peacock.

I'm sorry your image didn't score higher than it did (I think a lot of fantastic images scored lower due to the intense competition and scoring on a curve), but I don't think you should second guess it. It's a beautiful shot and very well presented. :-)
