Just came across this link to a strangely familiar winning photo from out of the past! Hmm, seems like I've seen something like that before:

(Actually yours is much better, Laurie! Just thought you'd get a kick out of seeing this one too.) --Ray

Man, as SOON as I hit ENTER I remembered that the link won't work without an account. At the risk of being a violater, here's the photo:

Just a minute and I'll add the text... it's really pretty interesting.
Here ya go...

"James Lamp (middle) of Winchester was eight years old when he and his brothers, six-year-old Bill (standing) and 12-year-old John, enjoyed some watermelon one hot day in the backyard of their home at 116 Purcell Ave. Ralph and Catherine Lamp and their sons lived at that address until the early 1970s. Ralph, who was the fiddle player for Patsy Cline’s band, the Kountry Krackers, submitted this photo to “Modern Photography” magazine in 1952, and it won first place.

I love that old photo..there's just something about old black and whites. They have instant character. I'd love to have an old old camera and someone to show me how to put film in it :-)

LOL thanks for that link... I have never seen the historical pic before! I was going for a retro look with my shot, hopefully I achieved that goal. Something about kids and summer and watermelon and b/w photos...they just seem to go together! :o)
