Just got back from a weekend up in the mountains. One of the trails we hiked led to this waterfall. What do you think about the two shots and which foreground works better? Thanks!

I'd say the first one, but with less bricks in the shot. They dominate it as it is, and they should gently underscore and contrast the falling water... In my very subjective opinion.

I like the second one.

I would remove the bricks, hence the 2nd image. The bricks don't play a role or have a great association with your subject. They actually introduce a non-natural element into a 'natural' photo.

I can't say the bricks do to much for me in this image. I like the second one better. I think the water fall makes a nice split across the image against all the green.

I prefer the second image. The bricks lead my eyes out of the bottom right corner of the first image. If the angle of the large bricks in the foreground weren't both pointing to the corner (away from the subject) or if there was a complementary brick structure on the other side of the waterfall, I may have preferred the first photo.

I like the second one better for the above listed reasons, plus I like the angle a lot better. You can see the a lot more of falls, and it's not competing with the wall to be the subject.

Of the two presented I believe the 2nd one is better. To me the bottom of the falls needs to be in the photo. As it is the crop is too tight on the left.
