I'm sure this has been discussed before, but....
Would it be worth me buying a nice photo printer?
As of now, I get mine done at Wal-Mart...
4x6 - $0.24
5x7 - $0.99
8x10 - $3.00
The quality is nice and they are done in an hour. I tried Meijer, but the quality of the print was just poor.
Also, if I would buy my own printer, do they do as nice of a job as what gets done at walmart?
Thanks for you help and suggestions,

I get all of my 4x6 printing done at local labs and I print most other things myself up to 12x18. Its not usually cheaper to print your own 4x6 prints, and the 5x7 may be close. Your 8x10 cost will be slightly cheaper (maybe) to do yourself.
If you buy the right printer, your quality will be excellent.

Eventually you might run into problems with pictures that are "too good" at Walmart. I haven't had this problem at eckerd's and so far the quality looks very good. I was looking at printers at BB and the samples they provided for even the $200 printers looked pretty darn good! But that $200 + cost of ink and paper will not be covered very quickly unless you do a lot of larger format printing ( 5 x 7, 8 x 11 etc ). If it's worth the convinience, go for it, just get a good epson.

thanks for your advice....I do get most of mine done in 4x6, and only the GOOD ones make it to 8x10, so I think I'll stick with walmart. |

Upload to the costco site and pick up in 1 hour. Ritz Camera has the same service.

Prints from home don't have that film photo prints feel to them. |

yea, I know what you mean faidoi... I have an HP deskjet 5550, which isn't exactly a photo printer but it does a decent job. But all the photo paper available just has a flimsy, almost cheap, feel to them. |
