Just wondering if any of the DP challenge administrators know the stats of how many PC or Mac users are using the site?
Also how many people out there have their monitors calibrated?
cheers

Macs, six in all.
I use an eMac (IGHz/330GB/17" CRT with 1 GHz RAM) for photo editing and a 12" iBook G4 (1.2GHz/100GB with 1.256 RAM) for traveling.
Ellamay uses a dual G5 (2GHz/200GB with a 20" Apple Display) and a 15" PowerBook G4 (1GHz/60GB) for traveling.
The kids have an older iMac DV (800MHz/10GB with 768RAM).
The parents use another 12" iBook.
Mine are calibrated, although I found the difference between the out-of-the-box calibration (and the automatic subsequent re-calibrations effected by re-starts) marginal indeed, especially with the eMac CRT profile.

I'd strongly consider a Mac if they had a 17" G5 laptop and didn't charge an arm, leg and right foot for it....
I guess come 2006 one could just say - Mac or PC? and answer both with
"Intel"

Well, here is one, and it's a steal for what it is, no?

Use both, PCs at work, and Macs and PC at home. Much prefer the Macs, particularly the IBook G4 I am on at the moment. One thing I do is check my challenge entries on both before submitting as the monitor on the Mac is sooo good, I can submit a pic that looks great on the Mac but not good on the PC- too dark or not so sharp.
No problem using both as nowadays anything that I do on one I can easily ntransfer to the other.

I use this machine (the SuperDrive version) for most photo editing. The CRT monitor is great, but... it's a G4, of course, not a G5.

Sorry you're link didn't work...
And I meant to state "laptop" (my apologies - but I think most people know that 17" G5 desk units are available) .... I'd never waste money on a 17" Mac desktop when I can get the same specs as above (with more RAM) in a PC for only $399....(yes, with monitor)

I laugh at this, because the 17" Powerbook and ever 17" PC laptop used like the same LCD screens as only one company was making them at the time. Oh, combine that with the fact that many of the video cards in the PC laptops were the same. So the above is in no way a fair comparison.
