Anyone have any experience/feedback with this ball head?

I have the 486RC2, same head without the magesium hydraulic lock, mine has the old screw lock, but it´s a great head, holds my 20D with grip, 70-200L f2.8 IS and 580EX flash with Gary Fongs lightsphere diffuser. |

I just got exactly this ball head from BH last week and tried it a bit and it is wonderful. You can adjust the friction very finely and have it just tight enough to move the camera and then turn the main knob and it locks 100% with no sagging.
If you need a new tripod head I recommend this one, and even if you don't need a new one :) |

I'm planning to try this head as a replacement for the Acratech Ultimate Ball Head. Thanks for the feedback :)

This head arrived today. I'm quite impressed by it so far. The only concern I have is whether or not the rubberized knob will hold up over time.

I had the acratech head before i bought this one. The only thing i like better about the manfrotto is the ability to drop vertical from both sides rather than having to rotate the head to do it.

I have this head :
Manfrotto joystick head
It is really handy but gave me a cramp in my left hand thought, the handle
is pretty strong.
Hempster : Why did you drop the Joystick head ? |

to answer for Hemp because I am his wife and it is what we do
"after trying the Joystick head and Grip action head the new head has encouraged me to shoot without locking completely ...It is very sweet!"
I still use the joy stick and love the freedom it gives me without having to twist and lock.
