This photo was take by my sister-in-law. She has asked and asked and asked again for me to post it here. Well here it is. Thanks for all the comments. I will be sure to pass them along.

The lighting is good. This shot lacks a clear focal point, and in totality is not attention getting. Because of the angle at which it was taken, the two horizon lines are unbalanced. The water in the foreground is too choppy to produce a clear reflection - I'd crop most of it out. The sky could use some dodging/burning to add drama. Overall, it's an OK shot that with some additional post-processing could be better.

Is this any better?

Overall, the image has way too much of a yellow cast and lacking contrast.

----------Original-----------------------Step1------------------------Step2--------------------Step3----------------------Step4-----------

In Photoshop CS2:
* Step 1: (Down & dirty) Image, Adjustments, Auto-Level.
(curves &/or levels an option with a little finer control, but chose auto for simplicity)
* Step 2: Image, Adjustments, Shadow/Highlight tool, Shadow set to 0, Highlights set to 20
* Step 3: Image, Adjustments, Hue/Saturation, Drop-down & select Yellow channel, set Hue to +10, Saturation to +10, Lightness to -35
* Step 4: Image, Mode, Labcolor, go to lightness channel in lower right corner, Toolbar, Filter, Sharpness, Unsharp Mask, set to 50, 0.3, 0 and then back to toolbar agin, Image, Mode, RGB, save for web.

More can/could be done with it, but was a quick 1 minute edit, all legal in basic editing.

Hope you didn't mind but I attempted an edit.

BradP -- what an excellent outline! Alas, I have no Yellow channel remedy in my photo editing software, but you are absolutely right about it.

PhotoRyno - I made my own attempt. Straightened the foremost horizon line and cropped out the part on the end where it started to go wonky with the other horizon line. I could not get the same yellow reduction as Brad, but post my effort all the same... :)

I agree that Brad has layed out a good outline for editing the photo. I wish more people would leave such good comments.

As for the yellow cast, at time in the south the light will cast a very strong chartreuse color on the grass and trees.Dark green is nice but does not always portray the actual scene.

Also my sister in law enjoyed the comments
