it is a pretty croppy photo to crop, plus it's a croppy bitmap... but I cropped my croppiest and now it's cropped.

Here's my take. Sure will be easier later this month when I get membership portfolio space. Just a few more weeks!

That's pretty similar to what I was thinking - but I must admit that I'm pretty partial to greatandsmall's crop.

Thanks!
RolandB's crop is almost exactly like my first try. Except I was toying with the idea of leaving one white flower in the upper left corner. Then I decided that the chair was really what got my attention. |

OK help help, I still can't do this right, I couldn't send dustdevil a new doo, now I can't crop this photo. Please someone give me a blow by blow direction, this "flower child" is lost in the '60's. |

I'm going to have to learn all this when I become a member, but I think all you have to do is identify the picture number from your portfolio, and click on the last icon in the formum post to link the thumbnail to the actual picture in your portfolio.
I'm going to try and see what happens :)
looks like that might do it (if I've got the right number!!)

Take the numbers at the end of the file, ie 185239
When you post to a thread and the white box shows up then click on the last box above it. You'll get a popup asking you for the number. Put in the number from above and voila.

Laurie cropped out what is behind the violinist. This prevents the viewer from being distracted wondering what is important behind her that they should be looking at. She also removed some non-essential dark space from the top of the image. If the photographer intended that to be negative space there was not enough for that to work and it should be cropped.
Further, including and emphasizing the empty chairs in front of her MIGHT be the photographers way to make a statement about a violinist playing to empty chairs. This may not have been intended at all when the picture was taken but it does give meaning and direction to a photograph that had little in it's original form.
