Hows about this for a challenge...
Take one of your photos (that wasnt a ribbon winner) and try to improve it for resubmission. You could go back, read all the comments, and improve the shot you took.
Whatcha all think?

Sounds interesting. It was actually suggested a few weeks ago by KPriest as well:

The one thing that nags me about the concept is the lack of true anonymity. I really think, style aside, that is integral to a challenge. |

Do you mean re-shoot the shot, or re-process the shot that was taken? This could be very interesting! |

I was able to do that with an added month free study and had good results.

Reshoot the shot to improve upon it.

I suggested doing this in a previous thread several months ago. I decided to try it out with these two photographs.
The first one still outscored the second one but both are still in my top 4 photographs.

Entering a re-edit of an already-been-entered shot goes against the spirit of dpc. A major part of the concept here is to take a picture that fits the topic during the timeframe of the challenge. Entering a shot in more than one challenge is against the rules, even if it is edited differently. However re-editing a shot after the benefit of constructive critcism is a worthy endeavor. There is nothing stopping you from entering the re-edited version in another contest at another website.

RESHOOT, not REEDIT.
ITs the same idea as "copy a winning photograph and enter that" Reshooting there is nothing illegal about that.

Sorry to be a stick in the mud..BUT
That sounds boring and in many cases it would be impossible to reshoot..birds, flowers, people, some places (vacations), sunsets etc.
On the other hand..
Don't we all try to improve with each shot. I sure try and take comments, suggestions etc to heart and go from there.
Sorry don't mean to be a spoil sport on your idea.
There's nothing to stop you from doing it yourself.
Also many times it's not always the technique used in the shooting that gained the shot a poor score...it's the subject it's self. :)
Just my 2pennies. |

Maybe the challenge should be to try and reshoot your lowest scoring shot? But then how could people who have never entered into a challenge do so?
It also DOES take away anonymity...
Maybe the challenge could be to find ANYONE'S lowest scoring shot but that would be a bit of a mission to enforce as an extra rule.
