Comments and Critiques Welcome. Using my new guide I created. I call it the "Idiots Guide to Photography". I am not calling anyone but myself an Idiot. The guide is in the Notes of the photography please feel free to use it if it may be helpful to you or please free to add to it but you have to also let me know what you add. I too want to take some good photographs.
Thanks DPC

I think this is a splendid photograph. Composition is a strong grade. Subject matter is interesting and made me wonder more about the setting. I wonder if a slight, very slight, desaturation of all colors but red would give this more of a nostalgic look. I am constantly striving to take in all of the photo, not just what my eyes immediately see. This picture incorporates all of its surroundings. The only criticism is to wait for a different time of day to get better light on the lighthouse's side facing the camera.

Is this the same lighthouse you can see from Mackinac Island? If not it sure looks like it...summer vacation there two years ago.
In your notes you mention burning the sky - very nice job as I can't see anything that looks out of place at first glance. Also a very good job on bringing out the blue sky and enhancing the red of the lighthouse.
I'm sure you played around with the composition substantially...I like it. BTW - You have a fair amount of time on your hands to go thru THAT checklist before each photo! ;^)

I really like this shot! Great color contrast between the reds and the blues. It would be interesting to see this shot at sunset too, just to see how it changes the mood of the photo.
Very well done! |

Lovely shot! I'd like to see how it looked on a calm day with reflections in the water.

Good shot, I just wish the sky was less cloudy... I could see that red against a blue sky... ahh... so relaxing. |
