Okay- we have a lot of folks coming in from around the country. I know for many of you this is your first time in DC. Rather than just building the scheduled events to what I know and like, I'd like to see what folks want to do. So post your wishes here. Nothing is too wild. I can't promise everything will land on the event roster. But fire away and let me know what you guys want to do.

I really would like to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. Of course, I'd also like to see all the other touristy, cliché things as well, but this would mean a lot to me.

I second changing of the guard. I saw it as a kid with my family, and I would like to now see it again as an adult.

I have never seen that at all, and I have been to DC countless times - I would like to get in on that.

Lincoln Memorial for at night / evening. (I have been there in the daytime.) Also the White House and Capitol Building at night.

I can recommend the Ford's Theater (where Lincoln was shot) tour, narrated by US Park Service and free.

Would like to see (and never have) the National Archives, with the Declaration of Independence etc.

Capitol Tour, Washington Monument (going up during the day, Holocaust Museum all require tickets. If you want to any of these- please chime in on the thread. I'd need to prebook tickets for whatever event day this would be scheduled. :)

If there is time a trip to Mount Vernon is a nice outing.
For those of you who have not been here before, July and August are usually hot, hazy and humid. We also get some air quality alerts so be prepared.

There is no mint in Washington DC. They are in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. Do you mean the Bureau of Engraving and Printing?

We'd probably be up for this if there were enough other people that were heading that way as well.

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun!

Anyone else up for doing a Capitol Tour? It's actually pretty cool.
