Is anyone here from or firmilar with Bar Harbor, Maine or Acadia national park? I go there every year, My grandmother and grandfather take me, they say it's to "build up my portfolio". I have gone for the past three summers now and I was wondering if anyone else goes or lives there. It is a photographers paradise there and if you don't know anything about it just say something and mabey I can post some pics I have taken there.

Hi Topher, I'm originally from East Machias, ME which is about over an hour northeast of Bar Harbor. My cousin lives in Trenton, ME (just outside of Bar Harbor) and I'm very familiar with the area. Definitely post your pix! I'd love to see them.

Plymouth ME here. All my fam still lives in the Newport/Ply/Hartland area inland a bit from BH and Ellsworth. :) I am shooting a wedding in Acadia next summer.

I vacationed near there with my family as a teenager. We stayed in Sebasco. I loved the area and the seals.

Went every summer for a dozen or so years, used to hike and climb 'til we ran out of places. We knew about all the secret treasures that they started leaving off the maps cuz too many tourists were destroying them. Then we discovered Stonington where we took the ferry to Isle Au Haut, and would camp out at Duck Harbor. Went back two summers ago after a 15 year hiatus. Still beautiful but seems very "developed".

We went to Acadia on vacation a long time ago--BC (before children). Had a nice bike ride on the carriage trails and some nice canoeing.

And we are going back this August (WC = With Children). I'd love any suggestions as to where some great spots for shooting are and any great spots in general. Love to see peoples pics too!

I've travelled several times to Nova Scotia by motorcycle, and passed through "Baa Haabaa" as well as camped in Acadia National Forest (and still bear the scars from the mosquitoes!). If you can convince the folks to go via the ferry to Yarmouth N.S., not only is the ferry ride enjoyable, but Yarmouth is a very charismatic place, complete with fishing wharves etc.

The ferry is probably quite a bit too spendy for just an afternoon trip, though.

Unfortunately, I'm no where near able to go to ME. I am sooooo jealous of you, an expense paid trip to one of the most beautiful places outside of Iceland! :-)

I've been to Maine several times. Even lost my very first camera (Kodak 126 with flash cube) in a tidal pool at the Bar Harbor light....it did dry out but the corrosion from the salt water soon did it in. Moral: Even if you wear your camera on your neck strap, nasty brothers can tip you off balance, so leave all siblings home!
