From a previous thread that I believe has run its course, a question was asked by a member and a site council member responded that it was a great idea. I never actually saw an answer to the question, so I'd like to pose it again along with a few of my own...

I am amazed that with all the talent and knowledge on this site that the DPC 'bosses' haven't thought of starting up their own stock site with the members as a sort of cooperative, so that both get a fairer deal.

Now there's an IDEA!
My questions are, "Is that possible?" "Is it currently being discussed?" "Is there additional information already available?"
As someone who has not participated in any other sites to speak of, and as someone who certainly wants to explore any & all additional venues (other than local art shows) for potential revenue, the idea really intrigued me.
Thanks in advance for any & all replies...

Sounds like a great idea
Works well with them already having print services, they are set up for accepting and reviewing larger HQ files..
I'd like to see a stock site that had more contests!
Be nice to see this place do the opposite, be a contest site and have more stock ;-)

if it starts up I will be willing to go exclusive on dpcstock :-)
i think it would go perfectly as a sister site to the dpcprints site.

I'd love to see it, but it would certainly be a major undertaking from a business/legal standpoint, especially if DPC were to offer the higher-paying rights-managed stock.
It would definitely have to be a business decision on Drew and Langdon's part.

Would a canvas of all current DPC members on whether or not they would be willing to participate (or even go exclusively online - except for personal photographic websites - with DPC/DPStock) help sway their minds?

This sounds scary and foreign... I'd need a lot more details to even consider supporting this.

I would expect that if it would, they would run such a poll or survey when they're ready to commit the resources necessary to make it happen. I doubt they're opposed to the idea, but I know some other important (and overdue) projects are ahead of it... and remember we're talking about two guys, both with full-time jobs and one with a pending wedding.

As a relative newbee here, I couldn't help but ask the question. I CERTAINLY understand other priorities and obligations - I have plenty myself. Honestly, I hadn't heard any discussion about this previously and just wanted to know if 1) it was possible, 2) it was plausible, 3) others thought it was a good idea, and 4) members would support it.
I'm sure that there are many other projects in the queue that have been patiently awaiting their turn and should be given the consideration & attention they've earned & they deserve. I'm not trying to step on any toes or even make a big deal over it - just hoping to learn more about the site, its objectives, its members' opinions, and photography in general. :-)
Thanks.

How about we get the DPCPrints upgrade done, that we've been patiently waiting on, before we start looking at new projects like this.

Do most members consider DPCPrints to already meet these objectives? Is it something that could perhaps evolve to more of a coop? (I'm really not trying to beat a dead horse here - so please bump this thread if you feel like I am...)
