Ok I posted a thread the other day “convince me RAW is betterâ€Â¦Ă˘€ť. Late today I went out to take pictures for my PaD project. . I shot it in RAW then done a few adjustments [not good at raw yet] then saved as Tiff and finished adjusting in CS. I am glad I took the shot in raw because it seems to have more range and fewer artifacts than when I shoot in jpg.
I didn’t have much time because the sun was going down. This picture is of The First National Bank build in 1850 and the clock was put in place when the building was completed. Rumor has it through the Historic foundation the clock stopped at 8:58 – 12/31/1899. I cannot confirm that but if so, I guess this is really a moment in time captured.
I would love your comments on the shot.
Thanks,
Scott w.

I think it could be cropped much closer. -too much negative space on the right. other than that it's a nice shot :0) |

Bump for the late night people :)
1.Ok had a suggestion to tighten the crop so I did.
2.Had a suggestion to rotate but if I do the clock will not be vertical.
So which looks better. Open Crop or Tight crop?

if I had a membership i could show you my crop. But I am a loser and broke :0)I played with it and you can tilt it just slightly to make it more vertical.
I cropped right above the top of the ball on the clock and just above the triangle on the sconce (but not so you could see that thing from the other side of the building- distracts the eye) What that vertical line will do for you is send the viewers eye right to the subject.

Perhaps everyone was simply asleep. Or out on Saturday night? Here's another bump for you for the USA daytime crowd. |
