somebody is voting low again..i've gone from 5.2 to 4.9 in 3 votes...I don't know what they are scoring..but it is too low for my taste. Oh well, guess it is another low scoring photo for me............ :(

See this is where I get confused - "I do not like the picture" it gets a 1? The scale says 'Bad 1, 2, 3 - 8, 9, 10 Good'... A bad /good picture ie fits the challenge, its not blurred etc.. NOT 'I don't like it', surely? If you don't like it ignore it. Giving it a 1 implies it belongs in another chalenge and is so badly taken you must be using your feet.
Has average/ above average appeal? To who? To you? Or are you trying to guess if it will appeal to the majority of others? Which is impossible.
I'm really interested in your thinking.

Give it time....lots of ppl run through and vote, then run back through and comment/adjust rating. If you're still around 5, you'll probably get fewer comments than if it was really awful or in the 6+ range.
So far I have 4 comments and 112 votes. Still a lot of time left. :-) |

i was 5-ish now im at 4.9 .... bah! whatever ill just try again for the decisions challenge. |

At 5.9 (almost :-) this is waaay higher than my previous, admittedly crap, entries. I was hoping for a better score and here it comes. Fingers, toes, chest hairs, etc. all crossed that it keeps climbing or at least doesn't drop...
But yippee for improvement anyway :-) |

I've been stuck with scores in the 5 range for the past 7 or 8 challenges. Granular is a tough subject and I'm happy with this score. Maybe I'll end up 6+

this is another one of those challenges that is difficult in 640x* modes
unless you have shot macro all the images look soft -- i know mine is tack sharp but you can only see it at hirez .. sigh ... maybe i'll submit for a DPprint ;)
6.3xxx and bouncing all over the place (kind of 9,5,5,5,9,5,5...)
20 comments though ;)

I've stayed consistently in the 5.6s, as low as 5.62 -- high as 5.69. Looks like I'm doomed to a 5.6ish finish at this point. Had hoped for a bit better, but its an honor just to be nominated..... oh wait, different forum. lol

amber i hope you see this....those were catagories i seperate into ...not the scores i give....i just place them in these 4 groups as they appeal to me...how could i possibly say what would appeal to others.....then i go back and place them in the score i think they deserve....if a picture doesnt appeal to me but its technically a good photo i dont give it a one...
too much is put into these scores...i like seeing how the masses view my photos....but it doesnt make me like my photo any less...it just feels good when something you like is appreciated by others...
now i dont care if someone gives me a one....but tell me why....or if you have something to say think about how you would feel reading this comment on your photo....
anyway thats my soap box stand for now
