I know...I know....if it sounds to good to be true it probably is! But I'm forever looking for the 'bargain'! Does anyone know anything about this website?
//www.msdigitalmedia.net/product_details.php?product=2164
They're advertising ADOBE PS CS for like $69.95
Any info on this or even where to get this software for a bargain would be helpful! I do have PSE and with that I can use the serial number to get PS CS for $299...but I wanted to shop and see if I was able to find it for less.
Thanks!

The ones advertised for less generally have had the serial number cracked (stolen). You wouldn't be able to register it.

It doesn't come up in resellerratings.com but if you enter the name on the site, "soft 4 download," into google, it brings up a ton of differen't urls with the exact same site which seems awfully fishy. I'd stick with your probably too good to be true feeling and skip the "deal." |

Remember that Adobe is good to students and educators. If you are a student or teacher you can get the CS2 or even the suite for less than the normal upgrade program. Many forget about this. Many other software manufactures also have the same great deals.

I tried that route as I work at a community college. I contacted our bookstore to see if students get discounts and Gerry (bookstore guy) said adobe isn't good about giving discounts. So I called Computer Services to see if employees could get a discount on adobe and they said the same thing about adobe. Microsoft is another story, I can their software for very reasonable but not adobe :/

I did go to the resellerrating.com page again and did a search for the adobe PS CS and and found a site where it sells it low:
//resellerratings.shopping.com/xPC-PhotoShop_CS_8_0
In the headline it mentioned OEM...I'm going to the website now to check that out...but I wasn't sure what/how the OEM impacts the software and being able to use it.

The adobe site has some information on how to avoid piracy which may be helpful.
Take a look at the FAQ on the oem site. Note that you do not get a cd or any manuals - you get a link to download the software. Note this part, too:
Note, that you will not be able to register the software with the manufacturer and get their support, but we will do our best to support you any way possible. |

Try this to find an academic reseller. The discount might not be as much as you'd like, but it isn't true that they aren't good about giving some discount. |

OEM software in general is that which is sold with new computers and is not for resale. I would be wary of any site selling OEM software without the required hardware.

Note that there is no OEM version of Photoshop. Anyone selling an "OEM" versio is pirating it.

Yeah...I went and checked the sites (there were 3 of them) and luckily they had some reviews....and it sounds too leary for me. I may just bite the bullet....I've got 3 birthdays out of the way, with 3 more plus father's day. I'll just play it by ear and see
Thanks guys for all of your input!!! Have a great Day today!
