Information discovered from discussion yesterday in another thread (Burning CDs on the road) prompts this posting.
I followed-up with the item I had mentioned yesterday in the above thread and found what I was looking for.
The product I had seen mentioned is called SnapDisk. I read about it in the April 2005 edition of Photographic Magazine in the 'New Products - Proofsheet' section.
I go to the website (PNI Corp) to check it out. Get this, the product is discontinued - no longer being manufactured. I'm thinking, what the heck! Must have been some legal issue or something right? Time to do a little sleuthing...
According to an article titled PNI: "Success Story" Nov. 23-29, 2004 the decision to stop selling the product goes back to at least November 10, 2004.

So...I get a magazine that mentions a "New" product and that "New" product has been discontinued for at least 5 months prior to the magazine cover date? I know, I know - the magazine needs lead time for printing, etc...so say they finalize the April 05 copy in late Jan 05...they would still be a couple of months behind with this one.
Define "New"...

I looked up the very same thing when I got that magazine a few weeks ago because I thought that was the neatest thing since sliced bread. I was quite disappointed, as you were, that it was discontinued. Not sure who dropped the ball on that one...should have been easy to find out that it wasn't even available before they went to press. :(
