Hello-
My son is a member of this forum and I decided to join also.
My name is Kelly (CalliopeKel). Is there anyway to search for user portfolios?
This was probably the wrong thread (sorry mod) I'm still getting oriented here.

Hi,
Welcome aboard!
You can search for members profiles by going to the community drop down menu at the top of the screen and selecting photographer profiles and entering in their name, hope that helps!
Good luck and have fun here at DPC!

Thanks you guys!
I have been looking at your profiles. What great work. Im somewhat of a newbie to photography. Your portfolios are stunning, but how do I view the entire portfolio. I noticed only the latest few entries show up? |

It's actually not too intuitive... you click on the "Recent Portfolio Additions" title, which is actually a link, that will take you to the user's portfolio.

Hi there Kelly, welcome! My goodness, I'm glad you asked that question! I thought that there wasn't any way to get to a member's portfolio unless they linked to it! Learn something new everyday.
Glad you decided to join dpc. Even though you may be a newbie (as you said), don't be shy about commenting on people's photos. Seriously. Folks are always wanting more comments, and it's a good way to get started if you are willing to oblige. Good luck in the challenges, too, they're addictive. Be seein' ya around! Ray |

I would like some input on my portfolio. I have owned my camera for about 3 months. Finally braving the manual settings!
I would like to know what my strengths and weaknesses are.
Be honest, but gentle. :) |

Welcome to DPC. Lots to see and do here and you'll love it.
I like your people and fish shots much more then the flower shots. They just seem a little dark and maybe a bit flat.
The people shots are good to view, you've captured emotion and seem lively. Fishies in tanks. That is not easy and I think you did a very good job.

Might I recommend you hide your email address in your portfolio. Not a big deal but it has been mentioned that having it displayed may get your unwanted emails and spam. If people want to reach you they can Private Message (PM) you.
Just a suggestion.

Good Idea. Will do. Don't need more spam. I haven't found the PM section yet. Thanks for all the help guys. I get lost on these forums sometimes.
Yes, fish photography is difficult. They are constantly moving and the lighting is low. Plus there is glass in between you and the fish of course...OH, and sometimes algae. |

| Looked at your photos, and all exhibit an excellent sense of colour and balance, to me. Keep up the great photography, and welcome aboard. |

Always nice to get a compliment even if your low on the photography food chain!
So much talent here. Amazing. I feel so intimidated. Going to look at your site now. |

Yeah we know Cory (fetor). though he's not that active a presence here, see if you can outdo him. Your fish shots are terrific! This one especially:
That's about as fine a rendition as I've ever seen of metallic scales on a fish. Nice to have you aboard!
Robt.

jpochard-
Hi and thanks for the comments. I just got back from a mini-shoot and will be sorting thru my pics. Thanks for the warm welcome. My son Cory (fetor) will be more active over the summer. He is a senior in highschool and busy with year end work and photoshoots (annual staff).
His camera is so much better than mine, but alot of it is in the eye as you well know! I am ready for the mother/son challenge!

Welcome. Many family members compete here. One time an entire family swept the virtual ribbons. Mom, dad, son where 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but not in that order.
If you are not here to compete it's a great place to learn about taking pictures and making them the way you want with post-processing.
Before long you will also be known as the "crazy person with the camera" at work :P

Welcome to the assylum, Kelly.
Don't feel put down by what others do, just do what feels right for you. There are many talented people here, but also many mere mortals like me as well. We are the strong ones, we sit at the bottom of the pile holding everyone else up.
Enjoy your photography and enter the challenges, Good Luck!

Formerlee-
That is excellent advice. You have boosted my self esteem already.
It's odd how you can think a photo is great, and no one else does.
Going to look at your piccys now Formerlee. |
