I am out of this challenge, but just because I didn't have enough time for the past week to take this shot. And when I started this evening, I was interrupted 10 times, just to realize that there isn't enough time.

I just finished first attempt (that I wouldn't have submitted anyway because of the quality issues even if I finished it earlier.)

I don't think that I've seen a similar shot submitted, so it would have been 'original' to some extent.

Thoughts?

I left you a comment... 6 or 7, depending on the other images (I haven't had a chance to look at all of them yet)

That's three apples, not "an apple."
But seriously, nice idea, and I'd probably have scored it above a 6 for the idea alone, and it would have had a final rating, after my complicated, unique formula gets applied to it, of probably higher than 7.

Rob,

since this was basic editing, of course these are three apples. But the message I was trying to get across was that this is a life and death of an apple. Maybe that was really reaching... I'm not sure.
Anyway, it's not in there, and thanks for the high grade (even though my cut-out frame was unevenly cut)

i fell asleep in my chair before submitting!! D'OH!!!!!

how would this have done?
05/18/2005 01:15:24 AM · #10
I think that this is too snapshot-like. Too much clutter on the desk, more focus on the apple iPod (even with some negative space in place of the laptop) would have been better IMO. I'd given it a 5.

I really had a hard time choosing which picture to enter this time. I think I did ok in coming up with some good pics but that left me with not knowing which to use.

How would you vote on these 3. Already though I think I am kicking myself.

Had problems getting both the apple and Jenny in sharp focus. A project for another day

I came up with no less than a dozen completely different ideas and shot most all of them. The first was this:

Didn't like how it turned out and left me with a big hole in the apple, so I thought I could still make something out of that...

My entry is totally different from the above, but it's bombing, too. I completely missed the idea here!

This would most likely have been my entry had it been an Advanced Editing challenge - I had to clone out some spots that would killed it in the voting.

Hey thanks brian. From the looks of most of the entries, though, I was s'posed to DO something WITH an apple (like it said in the directions! LOL). I'm dense sometimes. But I appreciate hearing you liked one of my attempts. It helps the sub-5 score not sting so much :o)

The last outtake I can show without giving away my entry which, in hindsight, is the crappiest of all of them. :(

great idea. if you cleaned the right bottom corner a bit, and used a greater DOF, this shot would make a strong contender IMO.

I pulled this photo out of competition in the last minute

It is not such a great photo, plus I was afraid it could offend some people. Do you agree?

The only thing wrong with this one is the smudge in the lower-right. And I first thought that it is my monitor, so it would have probably go unnoticed for some of us that eat next to the computer...

I would have voted this in high 7, low 8 range. Simple yet powerful image.

5 shots in the phone rang. Anything round in my yard is fair game. I had to make due with what I already shot. Who would figure he would like apples?
