beautiful model. I like the pose and key lighting. I also like the tight crop in general, but i think it would be better not to cut the top of the model's head. Also, I think a little bit of fill-in light would be good to bring out the eyes.

I agree on fill lighting to bring out the eyes. My preference for shooting angle would be up higher, to accentuate her face more than her hips.

I agree, fill lighting would have made this an even better photo. I would love to see more in this series (if it *is* a series).

This is fantastic. I disagree with the fill flash suggestions. I like her face partially dark including her eyes..it looks intentional to make her mysterious. It's impossible to use a fill flash JUST on her eyes unless you're using one of those little flash lights like doctors have :-) if you went with a flash you'd undoubtedly lose some of this great lighting.

Very nice work. And yea, maybe keep the extra bit of head ontop but that's my only suggestion.

I agree with the lighting suggestions... also to pay particular attention to details.... such as the slight bulging out of her shirt at the neckline and the hair caught on her leg... also refining the pose... just having her bring her left shoulder back slightly and bringing that elbow back a bit would give her a better line... just some minor things... you have a really nice start!

Slouching is the new posture - according to America's Next Top Model and the New York Times :-)

Usually when I see "First studio portrait", a prepare myself for sub-mediocre pictures. This is refreshing, very nice picture. The lighting is great, but I would like to see a little more light on her face.

Keep up the good work!

I believe if you just use a small light (not highly directional) at a low power, it will make minor effect on the face shadows (which I also like) but it will produce nice sparks in the eyes.

Editorialy it is quite trendy to have darker shadow areas and I think this image suits this trend well.

This one is beautiful! I love the lighting, the angle, the cropping, the post processing. Simply beautiful!
