Thanks everybody, so far good advice. Hey, I asked this for advice on this is under photography discussion and got one answer, then it was locked. This is my first time here, what does "locked " mean?

I've done a little bit of this in the not so distant past. I first used natural light. This works well, but I found myself forgetting to make changes to the changing light on a partly cloudy day, and alot of my images came out underexposed. (This was done in my pre-digital days)

Since then, I bought a light kit from B&H. It came with 2 12" 500w monolights, with umbrella's, and a 6" 250w reflector. I have been considering a barn door for this smaller light, but haven't gotten used to it as it is, much less getting another piece of equipment. These are just standard non-strobe studio lights which I actually prefer working with. I think I spent about $200 or so. They're not ThAT portable, but I bought a big rubbermaid tub that holds everyting "good enough" but plan on getting a large trunk that will hold everything secure enough to ship it if necessary for shooting a few friends.

I've used this setup a few tims, and am extremely happy with the three light setup, it's very flexible.

If you shoot with the lenscap on, that will help too.

If you want to use AB's, especially more than one, make sure you don't overload the circuit. It's not too hard to overload a standard 15A household circuit. Nothing kills an intimate mood like having to reset the breakers in your intimate apparel.

Is THIS the type of thing you are looking to do?

I'd gladly volunteer to be your first male model, but for laughing, you'd hardly be able to hold the camera still :)

Thanks guys, information has been very helpful. I have been advised to travel light- should I re-think using the AB's and possibly go with an on camera hotshoe flash that swivels or extends on a bracket? And does anyone know of a flash/ bracket extension set up like this that will work with my Fuji S602?
