Whenever I use the Clone or Healing brush nothing happens. I select the source via the use of alt but when I click on the destination nothing changes.

sample all layers and align are checked and the mode is normal? What else needs to be set to get this to work.

May not be on the active layer.
Tried flattening it and trying it?

if you flatten you won't be able to edit layers separately.

I agree with bradp about active layer.

check that your mode is normal and that your flow and opacity are at a reasonable level... that's all i can think of.

to select the source you have to ALT and click in the area you want. Then you should be able to paint away to your hearts content.

I know this sounds stupid.

how about rebooting your machine.

sometimes applications are moody, and all those bells and whisles arn't turned on. Just a thought.

That's not silly. What's silly is that the clone and healing brush were set to pen pressure and once I turned that off the mouse worked fine. I don't remember turning that on but I must have when I was practicing with the stylus on the tablet.

did you recheck your peramiters on your tablet?
could this be the issue?

I have a wacom tablet connected, but I don't use the wacom mouse too often. I only use the tablet whenever I feel like picking up the pen. I have another mouse that I prefer to use on a mouse pad. One day the clone tool stopped working and couldn't figure out what was going on. I tried the piant brush and it was the same. Selection tools were fine. I checked layers and the usual suspects and couldn't find anything.

It turned out that when you place the Wacom mouse on the Wacom Tablet, some tools refused to function properly with the other mouse. When I moved the Wacom mouse away from the tablet, it was fine with the other mouse.

What parameters are you referring to? I was talking about the parameters for the healing brush and clone tools. What I did and what xion suggested worked to clear up the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
