I recently bought a Canon 550EX and 420EX and whilst for the most part I'm loving it, there's one bit that's bugging me. If I have the 550 set to master, and the 420 as wireless slave, I can't seem to stop the 550 firing.
I tried changing the thing that said "on" to "off" on the 550 like the manual says, but they still both fire, can anyone help? What's going on?
Thanks |

It can be done cause i have done it and i did lift the directions from the 550ex manual but i don't have it in front of me... it may appear that the 550 is firing when it really isn't.. it will fire a preflash but no actual flash...

I thought it might have been a preflash - having read about stuff like that - but I did a test shot in the mirror, and both flashes are definitely illuminated in the picture. |

I'll find the answer tonight when i get home if someone doesn't find it before me. I did find it in the manual and tried it out... worked fine...

That's great, thanks. I'm going to have another session with the manual after dinner. |

The answer is on page 57 of the user's manual.
