As I was contemplating the Dreams challenge, Robert ParkeHarrison immediately came to mind.Check him out!

ParkeHarrison paints his negatives (he did some workshops here at Utah State University) to get the feel and mood he wants.

I'd love to see other photographers' works of which you know that deal with dreams; please share!

Awesome! He and Shana do great work. I like things that make me stop and starting looking at things in a different way. Would be tough to do a photo in his style.

Wow...all I can say is....WOW!!!

I liked my entry until I saw that site. My image is nice but lightweight material, compared to that.

Does selective bluring work in advanced editing? And if so what's the best way to achieve it?

smudge tool?
select an area and do a gaussian blur?

Those are awesome images, but are we expected to enter surreal images as those of ParkeHarrison? My subject matter for the dream challenge is common but I've tried to give it a slightly different treatment.

Thank you for that spectacular link! I have never seen anything like it except for Dali's paintings..the mood is incredible, as are the props...what a vivid imagination..I will keep that in my favorites to refer to often.

His work immediately reminded me of Joel-Peter Witkin...a much tamer Witkin though. Joel -Peter Witkin is who I first thought of when this challenge came up, but then Witkin's images would be considered more nightmarish to most... A bit of a warning here: if someone hasn't heard of Witkin and would like to look him up...his images can be very graphic and "uncomfortable"...kind of like looking at a bad car wreck.

This guys photos seem very strange and twisted. Makes me wonder if he is wearing a tracking device.

i wouldnt say that just because its in your dreams it would have to be an unusual situation, many people dream about food, money, affairs, falling, etc...

I think this will look similar to the minimal challenge only because people usually only remember 1 key thing from a dream even if they remember the whole dream. Like in dream books its usually one one word you look up for a definition.

I had a great shot all lined up edited and looked awesome all ready to go put all the info onto the upload page and then hit the date. One day to earily, got pissed off and deleted all the files. To top it all off I'm sick and won't be able to enter the night chalenge or the dream challenge AND to make things worse I only have one cold beer left in the fridge.

If you're sick, beer's the last thing you need anyway. Want some chicken soup?

Hmmm... I'm not sure about this challenge - my dreams include just about anything and everything, and who am I to know what someone else is dreaming - for mine, I see this challenge almost as a free study, I'm not exactly going to be voting down a shot on the basis that it couldn't possibly be something someone saw in a dream....

Somehow I doubt others will feel the same though - we'll likely see a lot of diffusion/gaussian blur type effects.

Any thoughts ??
