I'm relatively new at using my rebel XT and Photoshop. Taking some night shots last night, and had a terrible time with AWB. My guess is I had several differnt colored light sources in the photo. Can someone tell me in what order to adjust the different settings in PS? I don't really want to show the photo in question, as it may be a challenge entry.

Did you shoot RAW or jpeg? That will make a difference in what processing is needed.

this time I shot jpeg, been shooting some raw...thats new to me too. I have PS6 which I believe won't edit RAW.

You're right, PS 6 won't edit RAW but the converter that came with the camera would have allowed a bit of tweaking of the white balance.

That aside, I am not a PS guru and have not tried to correct whitebalance with the options within PS. I am sure someone can help though. Also, a quick google search for a PS technique might bring up something.

the easiest way to start is to go into Hue/Saturation (it's Image/Adjustments/Hue/Saturation in PSCS) and play with the different options in there.

if your photos have a yellow cast to them, select Yellow from the dropdown and move the saturation level downward, for example.

there are a million ways to remove color casts from things in photoshop, but i've found that's an easy one.

or, just be lazy and make it B/W lol. i do that sometimes too!

thanks muckpond and cpanaioti. Using the tutorial guidlines first and then fine tuning as muckpond suggested, I'm getting OK results. Unfortunately I'm afraid there are to many different light sources towork in this pic, but it will come in very helpful in the future. thanks

Try using the variation tool under image and adjustments

never knew that was there. Thanks leonjr. Again, It doesnt really help in this particular instance, but I'm sure it will in the future.
