Here's a couple of shot I considered entering in the Minimalism challenge. How would they have fared?

I think there is a missunderstanding to what minimalism is. Both of these look pretty busy to my eyes. |

Thank you all for your honest opinions. Hope the one I entered meets with wider acceptance, lol. It's doing ok but not great in the early returns. Thanks for looking at my pics.

I"m not doing to well either, in my haste to get the image I imagined I forgot to focus sharply on my main subject not the other item...dang it. I wish the power lines hadn't been in this one, I really wanted to submit it, but knew I'd get nailed for them.

btw..I like your image of the barn but it is a little hard to see in the trees. The toilet is kind of funny.

Four others I considered entering... any one of which would be doing much better than my current entry, I'm sure. Naturally. ;o)

I like the dawers one - that has a nice simplicity, also the red/brown thing, though I'm not sure I know what it is.
This was going to be my entry until I had a better idea.

Hmmm, the barns would probably have scored 7 from me.... sky looks a little noisy, but I think you met the challenge description very well. The toilet flowers? Four or five, sorry. Not my thing :0) Good luck in the challenge. |

Laurielblack's drawers would have gotten a 9 from me - the others are too much..

TY nova.
I discarded the barns because I didn't think the subject was strong enough, and of course for this challenge, it would've been better with a clear blue sky. But I still like the photo, wish the barns were a little higher than the treeline.
The flowers shot might have done ok in a challenge based on juxtapositions. Beauty is where you find it.
Laurielblack's drawer image is my choice among the 4 she posted, it would have received a good vote from me, it fits my idea of the topic very nicely. But I'm sure she's got a better one in the challenge.

I wish!
Thanks y'all. FWIW, those aren't drawers...it's a metal panel on the side of the base that supports Reunion Tower in downtown Dallas...but I thought it was extremely boring and would likely garner a 5.0. Which still would be better than what I have now. I'm insane! :o)

I shot this candid in Rome on Saturday, but I got home late yesterday after an 18 hour trip and decided to make sleep a priority over challenges for a change.

3 outtakes i did not sent
the first maybe the closest to the actual meaning of minimalisme (reducing to its basic form)
the 3rd maybe the closest to DPees discription of the word minimalisme
and ended up with something completely different the one i liked most but the voters seem to have a different opinion (as usual..he)
any comments are appreciated

Here's my outtake. I am at around a 5 now and am feeling like I might have submitted the wrong picture! Oh well, I guess that is what the next challenge is for.

both dandelion and bug are of the rare kind of photo that fits both the challenge title AND description (or at least my idea of them) - which isn't easy to do.

That is interesting, in what way does it not meet the challenge? The subject is small and it strongly stands out. What more is needed to fit the challenge? This week̢۪s challenge should be pretty easy since there were concrete rules given.
Am I missing something?

Janice,
This one works for me. I think it meets the challenge and is a very nice picture to boot.

Couple of Outtakes of my own. This challenge was interesting but deceptively challenging. I hope someone nails it. What do you think?

I know this is a bit late for outtakes...but I was going through my workspace folder and ran across this one that I really don't know why I didn't enter in the Minimalism Challenge...I ended up never entering anything...
I was suprised to see one with the same theme when voting...eerie...
