Hello Jennifer

I took the liberity to go to your profile page and was rewarded with the photo of you with you foot up on the chair. In that image you were far more comfortable and your personality seemed to come through. Perhaps the fact that you took the photo of yourself nude was a distraction for you. Worrying about the right pose and making sure the camera is right is perhaps a bit much in the beginning. Keep on practicing and I am sure you will get it down.

I agree with the technical comments already mentioned, especially concerning white whites, and black blacks and all the shades of grey in between that make up good black and white images. The idea is that you want whites and blacks but you want to see detail in them as well.

Keep up the good work and I would love to see the progression you make with this challenge.

There is not much difference when the orignal is B&W (I just get so used to doing it that way) But when it is colour it only sharpens, contrasts, etc the detail of the photo - keeps it looking more natural IMO

There is a sight difference for the B&W again it in the detail - the blacks stay a little blacker (but it very slight IMO)

Greetings Jenn...

Very attractive model. One thought for improving this type of shot. Said model is using their hand to cover themselves. It looks extremely awkward and off-balance. It's really not a natural position.

Next time, simple relax your arm, let it be natural. Let the entire pose be natural and inviting. Then simply take a silk handkercheif or such and drape it across or hold a small chair pillow as if you were wishing you had the one you love present to hold instead.

As it is, besides the lighting/noise issues you're already away of...I believe it is just that arm that takes away from the poise of the photo. Hope these suggestions help....

Jen,
Here's a quick take, without quite so much noise reduction. I've left a little grain, which I think adds to the photo. I've also used some selective curves and burning to darken the BG and to reduce some of the bright areas on the face, breasts and bikini line.
