apart from it being a massive image, and rather beautifully processed, I wonder if you couldn't just try t bring out a bit more dirtiness in the flute - just to put it in the same territory as the player. Somehow, for me, it isn't quite strong enough compositionally (lines, angle, your tag line) to stand as a pure metal contrast. It would complement, I think, rather than contrast, better. I'm not sure, but I'd certainly have a pop at it if it were me.
E
er, massive meaning quality, rather than simple size.

thanks for the critique, however i dont understand what you mean by "I wonder if you couldn't just try t bring out a bit more dirtiness in the flute - just to put it in the same territory as the player."
i asked my mother on whats wrong with it, she pointed out to me that hes holding the flute the wrong way, derrr leave it up to her to point things out like that... |

Aside from being held the wrong way, the only thing that distracts my eye is the pure white bow tie...

I mean really the brightness, the shininess of the flute - just calming it down a little might make it seem less of a bright shiny thing, more in keeping with the mad look of the player. |

tell you what else, I'd do: crop the bottom ust above where your tag line is, and move that to the top right somewhere - and smaller. |

I find my eye wanting to see more of the hair on the left, it is cut off abruptly. Is this full frame or is it a crop?

I know this sounds daft but... he just doesn't look at all like he's actually playing it so much as playing with it - caressing it, kissing it, examing it - but not playing it.
I agree with Ed re the flute's perfect shineyness taking focus away from the fascinating "player".
I also think the composition could be improved by either placing that flute on a true horizontal or, better yet, making much more of the angle and placing it on a strong diagonal.
Love the high contrast treatment and the lighting.

Off-Topic.
None of my business, but I was just wondering how a 17 Year-Old is lucky enough to Own a G5, Digital Rebel, and a 20D!!
When I was 17 (1987) I was happy to have my Used 1979 Dodge Aspen Station Wagon and my NES... |

Awsome shot! The first thing that seemed wrong was the glow around the tag line. Too big, too opaque and too square. After reading about your mom's comment... It does bother me that not only is he holding it the wrong side (Maybe he's left handed, but I don't think they even make flute for left handed people) but the fingers position seems odd.

I mean ... look at the guy - does it really seem odd that a bloke like that is holdng his flute in a bizarre way? |

Yes, it does... You are supposed to hold it with your left fingers toward you and the right fingers away from you... Both his hands are holding it from the same side... Flute weren't designed to be played like that...
The photographer still deserves credit for a really cool picture... But the guy in the picture, I'd say he's nothing but a poser (hope it's not a good friend of yours I've just insulted)
