I'm not sure what you'd call them but have you ever been all set up and ready to fire off about 10 shots and have someone run into your frame?

or you're doing a long exposure...

sometimes it's a good thing like cghubbell's shot, one of my favorites.
Got any to share?

not really...but i have had someone try to stop me from taking a picture ;-)

That would be unsettling, to say the least. I don't know how I would have handled it.

You should try sports photography :)

I have tons of photos of referee's back sides.

I guess everybody just deletes them, like I should learn to do!
I was bored with voting and looking for a diversion.

adding: John, I would imagine that you would run into that! About how many shots do you take at each event? I'm just curious. Do you fire off as many as possible?

I try to allow for someonething like this to happen, so I may be able to anticipate a little and have a shot I would not otherwise have. Example:

Not nearly as many as you would think. I'll normally shoot anywhere between 40 and 100 shots at any given game, depending on how long I stay.

Zeuszen, that's a great candid!

I found out they make specialized add-on equipment for just this situation...

Oh my god! That's pathetic. You're pathetic! lol I hope my hubby doesn't see this post. I promised him I wouldn't post it!
Adding: It is so funny. If you saw the look on his face it'd crack you up. It looks like he's running across the screen at a drive-in movie theater or something. lol

OH OH OH, that's your husband? I certainly wouldn't condone using that on your husband. I thought it was just a stranger / passerby. My bad.

Use this:

Don't you need to go vote or something?

I was out doing some panning tests and just as I took the exposure of an orange VW van passing from right to left, a white work van crossed the path from left to right causing it to stretch out like a limousine in the shot. If you look through the windows of the work van, you can see the intended subject is quite sharp. It would have been a good pan!

I voted on all the entries yesterday. Still making some comments on them and posting helpful tips like these here in between. :)

btw rebelo, the airplane solution also works on trucks and vans. ;-)

Okay, then I guess I'll go vote. ;)

rebelo, Nothing like riding around in a "work limo". I can see the orange vw in focus. It would have made a good pan.

this is a shot of my friend lynn and i in front of the arc de triomphe in paris:

we took about 10 pictures of ourselves where we both looked stupid. in this one, of course, we look OK but a tour bus decided to drive by.

you should have been there. we laughed for about 10 minutes.

Just as your ready to get the best shot of someone heading the ball into the back of the net, the crowd goes wild and all you get is the back of the person in front of you.

I seem to get lucky with birds flying into the scene at just the right moment, like this one

Ooh, ooh, and this one too!

(perhaps I should be claiming that I waited for hours for the birds to position themselves, rather than just getting them through random chance...?!)

Speaking of birds....

The unintentional doesn't always equate to bad.

Some good ones! I think the one that would upset me the most would be the northern lights. I personally have never seen any but isn't the window of opportunity just a few minutes?
The others are just funny (or good) and something to laugh about and then reshoot. Thanks for posting them. :D
