Greetings...
Life Magazine has a special commemorative issue on the newsstands at the moment. It's a photo essay of the life of Pope John Paul II. There are photographs from his early childhood up through his death. Some of these images are quite touching and very well done photojournalism. I suggest at least browsing it even if you don't want to shell out the $10 to take a copy home...

I flipped through it, very nice images.
Apparently he had one photographer who was always with him in his travels, so im pretty sure most of those pictures are by him.
edit: Gianni Giansanti is his name.
