In hindsight, I figure I should have gone with this one rather than the COMPLETELY different and more artsy-fartsy entry I submitted. I worked on this one for a long time, changing, fiddling, and the like... and I really like it for a lot of sentimental reasons. Oh well, woulda, shoulda, coulda...

Laurie, you are a star! Don't let your regret make you sour about this image --- be proud of it and submit it somewhere else and win some cash $$$

Beautiful image - very different to the urban landscape I am used to. |

Laurie honey, if you like the shot that you entered, it's gotta be a damn good one too!
Oh yeah, left ya a comment. ;-)

The scores seem pretty hard to get, some amazing images there. It is always hard to see what is just in the shot instead of what you experienced taking the shot.

The processing for this sounds a lot more complicated than it was... I used a variety of filters and the history brush to get the look I wanted:
1) Feivel's Gothic Glow
2) PowerRetouche's Van Dyck filter
3) Virtual Photographer's Reminiscing filter
Then I used the history brush at 20% to bring color back in and give it the tinted appearance it has now. Also made numerous contrast and level adjustments, and decreased the saturation along the way.
Overall, it was an experiment that actually turned out close to what I envisioned. Thanks for the comments, and now I know that I made the wrong choice! ;o)

Misery likes company, Laurie...I had the same dilemna...two shots, both artsy, and I chose wrong also...now at 4.8 for my entry. I think Days Gone By is a wonderful shot and shows that you really know what you're doing. As for me...well, it's back to the drawing board :). I'll be interested in seeing your artsy entry when the challenge is over. |

That's a killer good shot Laurie... Woulda been in my top 10 this challenge... Makes me hungry to know what beauty replaced it?

Why would you want to do that. Are we supposed to score high?
Damn, I knew I missed one of the meetings.
Seriously, would you rather have a ribbon, or a sellable masterpiece? |

Or both perhaps?
