Got these at a local park, what do you think?

Hey Travis...Don't take offense at this, it's just what I've been taught. Two subjects to stay away from because everyone does them and they are boring (ducks/Geese and Waterfalls). I don't find these two images interesting at all, and when I look at your other work, which is brillent and interesting, I would say stick with that, and forget the geese.

They look good Travis. I don't stay away from the geese -- just becuase everyone else is shooting them. They make for a fine shooting trip because it's a place to just go and watch wildlife by yourself. Don't be afraid to get up close and personal with them. Most of the time, the surroundings aren't going to be that interesting to the folks as if you zoom way in.

Think about what's in the background when you shoot. Think about your distance to the subject, and the distance from your subject to the background. Stand with the light to at a 45 degree angle to your side/back and just wait for the goose to turn around.

I'm no professional, that's just a couple things I've picked up along the way. It's just what I think, personally, makes the pictures more interesting...and in no way intended to say yours are wrong or mine are better. It's all about what you like.

Here are a few samples -- there's more in my Animals section of my profile.

Don't listen to the comment about 'staying away from' certain things. This is absolutely wrong and shameful to even say to someone. You need to shoot things that interest you and realize that some people won't take interest in your choice.

The first one is centered, I wish I could see more of the goose, you might consider having its head on the top left intersection of 1/3rd lines. The second one seems quite mundane. Unless you can think of a very interesting way to photography them, I'd stay away from geese.
