A special thread for all the forlorn and hurting, and as a small consolation to myself:)...

I just recieved my worst percentile finish of 2005... (drum roll)... 5%. Yes, that is 5% in the "Cemetery" challenge. Here is the lowly esteemed picture:

I expected to get zinged for thinking outside the box, but this was a double zing. Good ahead, show me your worst percentile photo of 2005, a smile while you do it!

There are still 9 months to go. It can get worse ;-)
04/04/2005 12:43:14 PM · #3
not too bad, considering i haven't had much time for challenges, but there's still 9 months left to go lower ;-)

"Sorry, no smile here...I think this photo should have done better. I wanted it to at least break the 5.0 barrier."

Can't get worse than that. And yeah, I'm smiling.

7% oh well... faceless challenge.

17th percentile in Stock Photographery II. I was severely disappointed. I thought I had fit the challenge well but apparently the voters thought stock needed to be "unique and interesting" when I thought it should be generic and ordinary. Do you put your "unique and interesting" photos up for sale as stock? I thought those were the ones to be sold as art prints like in DPCPrints. Hope this one is still my low point at the end of the year.

Looks like we were in the same sinking boat in this challenge.

Wow, this is a moment where I can feel pretty proud. lol My worst finish for 2005 is this one at 77% in self portrait III challenge. Yeah yeah, I know it's my only submission in 2005, but let me just bask in my accomplishment for a moment. lol

There is something to consider in all this too:

* Some enter ONLY what they can be good at, keeping their averages high.
* Some try to enter as many challenges just to test themselves and learn from each and every process/entry. (Moi)
* Then some of us enter shots we just don't care about the score, because it means something special to us and want it our portfolio, or just plain don't care. (Moi part deux)

My worst % of the year so far was 34% with this one

While my worst score by over a full point was in bored. Strangly enough however it scored 10% higher.
I can't resist showing of my greatest hit from last year though. It made me the proud score of 1%

and

* Some only enter challenges where the topic is of interest to them. Not just to keep a high average, but when you find an interest in the subject you tend to shoot better for it.... although I have been proven wrong on this one too :P
