Hear ye! Hear ye!

It's that time of the year folks! I believe Philadelphia has gone long enough without a get together! I would like to present a few areas of interest to go shoot, not all neccessarily IN Philadelphia, but definitely in the Philadelphia Region.

1. Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival @ Morris Arboretum
2. Philadelphia Zoo
3. Tyler Arboretum
4. Longwood Gardens

I would like to arrange another get together. It's short notice for April, but possible dates could be April 9th, 10th, 24th, 30th or May 1st, 7th, 8th, 21st, or 22nd. Does this interest anyone? We could meet in one spot, then car pool to the other spots, or if someone needs a ride, I wouldn't mind offereing a lift to someone.

If anyone is interested, please do post in this thread! It has been too long since the last get together! Cheers and happy shooting!

EDIT:

Date: May 22nd (sunday)
Location: LONGWOOD GARDENS.

How does this sound to everyone?

May and Zoo or Longwood Gardens. Zoo is more practical I guess, but Irises in May at Longwood.....Hmmmmmmmm! I have to work May 1, am in NYC, 04/30. I have a concert on the 05/07 and 05/08 is Mother's Day. I am free after that as far as I know. Of the dates you posted, 04/24 or 05/21, 05/22 are good for me.

I just got this email from the Philadelphia Zoo people...

"The Lions and Tigers are not here until our new exhibit is completed in the Spring of 2006. Otherwise, all of our exhibits are open. Some animals may be off exhibit daily due to animal health reasons, etc - but they are not scheduled in advance.

Thanks for your inquiry,

Doug Beermann

"

So much for goin to the zoo! Thats the best exhibit!

I'd definitely be interested, my vote is for Longwood towards the end of May since I'll be on vacation the other dates. Great idea, I was just thinking something like this would be fun.

Lets set the date for:

Date: Sunday, May 22nd.
Destination: LONGWOOD GARDENS

Now, if we go early enough (doors open at 9) You can bring a tripod inside until 12. After 12, it is Monopods only. I was also thinking that if we meet up earlier, we could get together for Breakfast or something. How does this sound to you all?

Count me in. I've never been to longwood gardens. Why do they not allow tripods after 12? Just curious. Also, for anyone that would like to join in the Philly GTG from out of town, I only have a small 1 bdrm apartment, but more than willing to let folks crash on couches/floor/etc. Also, I can help with carpooling if anyone needs a lift.

Ack, I said I'd show up for the next Philly gtg, but I'm going to be in DC on that date! But hey, I'll keep my eye out for any other get togethers in the area. :)

Have a blast!
