Well I'm sick of PS Elements 2.0, I want to be in the wonderful world of raw in PS. What feedback have people got on whether they've upgraded from Elements 2 to CS or Elements 3? What features do you actually find the best since your upgrade?
Thanks in advance. |

Maybe a more descriptive forum title would get you more response such as "Anyone upgraded to CS or Elements 3?"
If you want I can change it for you.

I upgraded from PS Elements 2.0 to 3.0. CS is about to be replaced, it seems. I had a gift card from Christmas and used it on 3.0. I like the healing brush addition and the ability to work on the entire canvas at any size. It seems to float on the screen, well maybe not float, but the canvas is accessible at all sizes on the image....in 2.0 it just cut off at the edge of an image making small cropping adjustments at larger sizes almost impossible. A great additions was Darken Highlights, lighten shadows and contrast for lighting and the noise removal is better, but I use NeatImage for that. The Photo bin is nice, but it drives me little crazy cause I'm not used to it yet. Some minor changes bug me, I am so used to hitting Alt F A to save in 2.0 and am still getting used to using Control S to save in 3.0. I cannot seem to find some things that were readily accessible on the side palate in 2.0 and the change of the order of the palette in 3.0 confuses me. But I do like it more than 2.0. I have not transferred all my plug ins from 2.0 to 3.0 and having been doing so as I need them.

I upgraded from PS Elements 2.0 to CS, and am not sorry I did. I have found not only tools that are very useful, but also that the majority of the tutorials are written for CS. While many can be adapted, some cannot, and if I am working with the same software, I can follow along a lot easier.
In working with some old files, I have found that CS, (I have the 2.4 update, but I don't recall if that is where the support for the 828 comes from) does a fine job with the Sony RAW files from my old F828. I also, by the way, really disliked the RAW converter supplied with the 828. I found it slow, difficult to navigate, and very limited in functionality. Thanks for the reminder to uninstall it. ;0)
Hope this helps.

Thanks dpdave that's what I wanted to hear. I've ordered CS, totally agree with the comments on the Sony Raw Converter. I don't mind waiting longer for the photos to take but then when you need to wait a decade for each tiny adjustment it's just too much. Good to know that it works and works well with the 828. |

Did you order CS or CS2? I think CS2 was just released on Friday. I saw a demo and it looked pretty awesome. The perspective tool lets you use a healing brush and keeps it in perspective with the rest of the photo. It also looks like the healing brush has been given more intelligence. It can determine from the surrounding area the best way to blend in the healing.

CS. I could only get an academic price for another few days, so had to bite the bullet. |
