normally, i'm a b/w guy, but the first one makes the kid pop.

I prefer the color... it's warmth and rich tones really evoke a mood. Beautiful!

I dont like b&w generaly, and the color version is amazing... ! bravo !

OK I may be the odd ball out on this one. But here is what I see.
The first picture has the best composition making the boy stand out more but the colors are IMO to vivid, almost over sharpened and my eyes are drawn to the surrounding colors instead of the subject. DonĂ¢€™t get me wrong, beautiful colors but IMO not with the boy in it because he is overwhelmed by the surroundings. The Black and white IMO does not have enough contrast and the boy blends in with the surroundings and gets lost. I think you have a great photograph here but it needs a little more tweaking to balance the vivid colors and the boy [subject].
So I believe the color photo has the best composition and is the best picture. But I believe it needs to be toned down a little not to distract the viewer from the subject.
NOTE: Your Picture "as-is" is still a great picture.
