Hi... I took this picture of one of my aussie pups when he was 13 days old (my two aussies had 4 puppies, I kept three and gave this one to my brother).
Please let me know what you think of it and if you have any suggestions of what I could have done to improve it.
Thanks!

I usually don't like pet pics much, but this one is really adorable. Great job - wish I could recommend something, but everything looks great to me. The expression is priceless!

That background is really distracting in the first one. The dog just about blends in with it. Maybe some backlighting or something would help? I don't do much portrait stuff.
Also, what's with the design on it? It looks like you extracted the dog and did a radial blur...really bad in my opinion.

Was some sort of radial motion blur used on this? I'm not sure about that effect but that is just a nit pick. It is very nice picture and I like how you left some space around and above the pup. You got to get as many photos of them when they look like that because they grow up so fast.

I like the pic, but technically, I am seeing some pink overcat that doesn't seem to belong there, I suspect either a WB issue. |

Really really cute, but I think it maybe the background thats not quite right. It doesn't seem to make the pup stand out. The pic of the dad is fab though.....love it even more.

I did use a radial blur on it... I guess it is too distracting. Thank you for all of your input! I took this photo 1.5 years ago... the pups are much bigger now. I just found it as I was looking over some other photographs. It was my first time using radial blur and wanted to get some opinions on this.
They are excellent herding dogs... however, I have five of them and live in Orlando, FL - no need for herding here! haha.
I was going to sell the puppies but I ended up falling in love with all of them! I gave one to my brother and I kept the rest... I get full visitation rights and I "babysit" everytime he goes out of town.
I really like this pic of the dad:

The following are snapshots of them all playing in my yard.

Haha! I have two Britek HS-1000 strobes that I normally use with a softbox. For most of my pet shots I use only 1 strobe w/softbox, however, the one below I used it with a silver reflecting umbrella. I have a very small home studio, but it works for me =) All of my equipment I purchased new off of ebay. My dogs love it because it means treat time! haha, bribery is great! |

The only improvement I think that puppy needs is maybe a different owner: ME :) No seriously, that is ADORABLE!! Thanks for sharing that with us!!!!

Haha! Thank you so much!
Here's a very recent one... an out-take for the pet portrait competition. I'd love comments on this one too!
It looks like she's laughing =)
- all I added was a sligh diffuse glow and increased the contrast |
