My involvement with this wonderful website will be limited for a short while as my wife and I are in the process of adopting a baby,
We have, as so many couples, struggled with infertility for years – and yes, my swimmers are fine!!!
Last November we decided to hire an adoption attorney. In January, we attended an orientation at the adoption agency that is doing our home study. They suggested during the session that we do our own networking to find a birth mother.
On a whim, my wife emailed KROQ̢۪s Kevin and Bean, LA̢۪s most popular local radio station morning show DJs, explaining our situation. One of the DJs quickly emailed back asking for clarification since it was such a unique request. A few days later, the producer of the show called my wife at work asking if she would be available to be on air.
The interview went well. During the interview, my wife gave out the 800# that our attorney set up for potential birth mothers to call us at home toll fee. The phone started ringing off the hook at our house immediately after the interview. We received several phone calls from well wishers, people offering to be surrogates, and we actually received two calls from actual women who were pregnant and were looking to place their child up for adoption.
We met both women and decided on one. She is due May 16! We are very excited, yet apprehensive even though she has not given us any indication that she will change her mind. We are in a vulnerable position, which is awkward, but we just have to keep our eye on the calendar and hope for the best!
So, to make an already long story short, expect a lot of baby photos from me in the near future!

congratulations, being a parent is wonderful. my husband and I have 3 kids. They are fantastic. I very much admire you and your wife for adopting.. can't wait to see your baby's photos.. Be excited your life is about to change in the most wonderful way :)

Congratulations and best of luck! Having been in your position twice I know how painfully long the next month and a half will seem to be. Every time the phone rings you will jump and pray at the same time. My best recommendation is that you two do something special for yourselves now. A weekend away, a restaurant you've always wanted to go to -- something only couples do. It will ease that tension and stress of waiting, plus once that special baby gets here you wont be doing these things for a while! You're in for a wild ride, one that's both exciting and scary.
