Not sure about the grain but otherwise I am pretty happy with the results for my first round at it. Of course I over wrote the original psd file when I shrunk it down by accident so I have to do it again anyway but oh well. I still have to origianl tif file so at least I don't have to take the photo again.
Anyway, any comments or ideas for when I create this again..?

I would say sharpness is key - when going for symmetry - make sure that the glass is level and that it is staight with the top of the crop - good job I'd say for a first timer! I did some quick things with it in PS..

Just for practice you might want to try and reproduce some of the many fine examples of wine glass photography found at DPC...
