With everyone always announcing the arrival of their new camera or lens, I thought that I would cheer about my new flash!
Yey!!
Finally some light to use for my D100.

I have thus far never used a big flash (one other than the flip up).
I am very excited.

After looking at a lot of books and articles, I realize that my pictures could benefit from well placed lighting.

If anyone has any input on flash techniques, sites, books that they recommend, etc... let me know.

Congtrats on your new arrival! You'll love it and curse yourself for not getting it earlier. I've got mine recently together with D70 and I love it. It is so smart and versatile, adjusts for zoom, aperture, background lighting automatically to produce awesome natural looking exposures. I don't know about D100, but with D70 it can be slaved to the built-in flash, so you can place it anywhere you want.

Heh, you'll love it. Personally I'd go with the SB-600 too, haven't seen too many people get full functionality of their SB-800's.

Since it doesn't come with a bouncer, you might consider picking up a Lightsphere II. Been seeing great results with em:

Oh and they're a little hard to find in stock (B&H is your best bet) but I highly recommend getting a color filter set so you can match color temps between your flash and ambient light:
