The site has been slow all day for me?
Is it me?
Is it one of 2 ISP's (home and work)?
Or did we just bore it to death? :)

Slow for anyone else?

It's been slow me for the last few days and I have seen another thread about it.

Ohhhh....
Please point, I haven't seen the explanatory thread.

When I'm voting it seems to stop at times..not go to the next shot. I get too impatient and go do something else. Been like that for a couple of weeks. I've been worrying that it was my computer..and it is relatively new...so I guess I hope the SITE is slow.

It's getting worse, for me.
Two different computers, two different access points.
(There might be a TimeWarner commonality.)
But I can't even post to a thread without a long, throat-clearing, hesitation on the site's part.
(I need my DPC! And I need it NOW!) PleaseThankYouVerryMuch

I quit trying to vote it was so agonizingly slow.

As for the other thread on this subject, I think it didn't get to the explanation, just a similar comment..at least when I peeked at it.

I wondered if anybody else was having the same problems. I have noticed it since last week. I was at my dad's this weekend and had a hard time showing him what I wanted to, because the dang thumbnails wouldn't load.

I'm hoping these problems are "bugs" associated with work on a massive upgrade to the site ( DPCPrints hopefully), but unfortunately it's probably just a database issue that needs fixed.

Me too. I was using my tablet to show some guests pictures, and it was getting hard to tell if I was missing the click!

There really is no determined cause... yet. It has been happening with some regularity. I thought at first it was just evenings, but it's happened a lot during the daytime as well. It is defintiley a server issue, since the "page expelled" times are very long, I've seen times in excess of 20 seconds. Hopefully it will be sorted out soon...

Still slow for me also. Been that way each time I logged on today, morning and afternoon West Coast USA time. Hope they find it soon.

Very slow... lots of hang-ups and freezing lately. I use three different browsers and ISPs too... hope it gets fixed! :o)

The admins are aware of it, L is looking at it right now, but there is no obvious cause.

I was having noise problems on my end for the last couple of weeks so I wouldn't have noticed it, but that's been fixed so yes I do notice this site is much slower at times compared to the speed I can navigate other sites at. It's been pretty bad today.

It seem s a tiny bit better when I turn Signatures off. I will probably at least keep it that way until it's discovered what the problem is.

Have "L" to look at the servers TTL and see what it is set at. Here is a small ping result mine to www.dpchallenge.com

This report kind of describes why a low TTL would cause the problems we are seeing. So this could be a problem. I use to get TTL's of 255 with dpc.
TTL Expired in Transit: Most computers today initialize the TTL value of outgoing IP Packets 128 or higher. If you ever see a reply above with a "TTL=5" (or some other low TTL number) this tells you that the computer being pinged should most likely have its default TTL value increased. Otherwise, anyone trying to communicate with the computer that is at a hop count higher than the TTL will not be able to communicate with the computer. For example, if you are 40 hops away from www.xyz.com, and www.xyz.com sets TTL fields in IP packets that it sends out to 32, the IP Packets will not reach you. They will 'expire in transmit' before they reach you.

Scott,
Good point, I don't know if that's the root cause, but it is different than it used to be. I will point the admins to this thread.

Thanks!

Parts seem better--but not everything is as it was....
...in the beginning, there was faster image loading and posts to forums took less time to process....
...Drew and Langdon knew it was good...
...but in those days there were also shadows moving in the lands....
....and Drew and Langdon were not pleased.
