I am starting to look at backpacks, I need one that has a laptop pocket, as well as room for a D70, 3 lenses, flash, and a few other acc.

Please if you have a backpack and u like it let me know, and if u hate it let me know.

I'd strongly recommend crumplers (www.crumpler.com.au). They have a nice selection of photography bags/backpacks/pouches. What I like the most is that they don't necessarily scream "photo equipment," and I think the products are well designed. I've got a backpack that can accommodate a body, two large lenses, accessories (all fitting on the bottom, separate section) and a main compartment that takes a 17-inch laptop and its needed accessories.

If you're in the US, I bought mine from BH, and their prices seems to be MUCH CHEAPER than advertised in the crumpler website. One explanation that I can come up with is that BH bought its stock when the US dollar was much stronger compared to the Australian dollar, and now is still selling the products at that old exchange rate.

Let me know if you want me to pm some photos of the pack I've got.

I have the Lowepro Computrekker. Stuffed in it I have a 20D, 3 lenses, including a 70-200, a 550EX flash unit, and a pile of sundry items. It also has a seperate padded laptop pocket, and is supposed to be airline carry-on compatable.

My only gripe about this pack is that when I'm all loaded, it is heavy. But it does carry well, so I can manage it all day. I also keep a smaller pack as kind of a day pack, with just the camera, a light jacket and a couple other items.

I use the same one as dpdave. I just spent two weeks with it completely loaded with gear (D70, 6 lenses, laptop, chargers, clothes, food, plus a bunch of other stuff). Hauled it over 60KM horizontal and over 1300 metres vertical in 3 days. It was heavy as dave says, but i blame my own idiocy and too much gear for that. the bag performed like a champ.

Loaded up was a tight squeeze on the plane, but it made it under the seat in front of me.

I have a Lowepro computrekker and a Lowepro minitrekker Both are the same size for camera gear, but the computrekker is thicker, with better shoulder straps and a laptop pocket. It certainly fits on a plane and is about as big as you can get away with.

I'll chime in as another satisifed owner of the Computrekker. I would like something better for hiking when I do not have a laptop, but it works for that as well in a pinch. As far as travelling with it goes, it is the perfect size for carry-on baggage.

Thanks, I will check those bags out.

I have the Lowepro Computrekker too, love it, travelled with it quite a few times and carried it on planes as carry-on with no problems.

I use a LoewePro Photo Trekker Classic, but have also travelled with the CompuTrekker. I agree with Pedro and others about the latter. It's very comfortable (more so than several other LoewePro packs I've tried), extremely well designed and made (without the overkill some other bags appear to be plagued by) and just the right size for most people's gear and strength.

An inch or so (in depth) is lost to the laptop pocket, however. This is why I chose the roomier Photo Trekker, which allows me to stow some lenses long-side up and easily accomodates two bodies as well. I do not travel with a PowerBook either, and thus have no need for a laptop compartment.

I have a LowePro Pro Trekker that I want to sell. It is about 5 years old and has been used less that 10 times and has been in storage. If your interested let me know and I'll take some photos of it for you.

What would you like to get for it?

somewhere between $260 and $275.

Another vote for the LowePro Computrekker. Plenty of room for a camera, lenses and all the little rechargers and accessories that go with them. Heck, you can fit your whole head in there if you're so inclined.

I know others like backpack bags, but I don't. I had a Computrekker, but sold it and if you are convinced you want a backpack, I certainly recommend that one.

I much prefer a well designed shoulder bag, particularly the Lowe Stealth Reporter bags. I currently have the 200 and the 650, which has a laptop pocket.

I found it a hassle to remove and set the bag down everytime I wanted to access the contents (to get the camera out, switch lenses, get the flash, a filter etc.). If you shoot outside, where the ground is wet, muddy, snowy, slimy, etc. setting your bag down is generally undesirable. I also didn't care for the way the opening was positioned such that if the bag were inadvertently picked up while fully or partially unzipped, the contents were prone to spilling out.
