I need help restoring this photo. My sister is getting married soon and my mother would like to use this photo in the wedding shower invitations.
I would like to restore the photo as much as possible. The picture was taken with a polaroid instant camera about 20 years ago. It has been scanned in to photoshop.
I have no idea where to start. I can send the original if anyone is interested in trying something yourself.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated greatly!

Sehd me the original: bear_music@yahoo.com ... I've done a LOT of this sort of stuff. Tell me, would a B/W or sepia version be acceptable?

My attempt...after touching up in many spots I just decided to crop it and use the autofx dreamy photo plugin. It's an idea anyway. :o)

Send it to a pro, such as - //www.innographx.com/. Caveat emptor, etc. I've never used this service, but their portfolio looks pretty good.

Here is my attempt, I used a kindof pinky color for the background, I've still got it saved as a PSD if you wanted me to change that color to match what your mom is after? (if you like it that is)

I'm shooting for more of an old-time sepia effect here, and trying to preserve some of the environment, which seems important to me but may not be so to shawn. Mel, yours is quite lovely.

i have seen those guys take a print that was towarn in too an patch it back to together as if it was never towarn.
it cost some money though.....don't flip.......-$40.........
but like i said i have never seen anything better.......

These all look great. I will send the original file to all that asked in the morning when I get home from work.
Those who already gave it a go. THANKS!
I am going to show them to my mom and sister and let them decide on which one they like.

A question before taking my stab at this: does the trailer have any emotional weight, or is it just an annoying backround and you need the girl and the dress? If the trailer nails down a place and time of emotional resonance then getting rid of it is a bad idea even if it makes for a prettier picture. |

I dont think the trailer plays any significant role...it was just a storage trailer lol

I quite like the fact that it's old and the color is a little off - it makes it look like it was shot 20 years ago which i presume it was. There is a certain romance about reminiscing the good old days and the technology way back then could only produce such results.
Start removing the time effects of the photo and it no-longer looks old, one may as well start removing her clothing and putting her in a pair of Nikes and paste an iPod into her ear. :D

If you don't have enough help as it is, you can e-mail me the file to talesoftranquil@aol.com and I'll have a go. |
