My family is taking a trip to Wilmington, NC / Cape Fear Area in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone who lives near or visits the area has any ideas about what to photograph? I'm open to any ideas, unusual spots, parks with good things to shoot, etc..
Thanks

I live in NC, but I'm like over 400 miles away from Wilmington. I don't think I've ever been there. Not sure about distances, but if you wanted to take a day or two and go to the outer banks, there are some cool lighthouses, and historic stuff there. and the beach.
You may want to PM alecia. I don't know about now, but she did live in Wilmington, or thereabouts at one point.

I've tried to PM Alecia but had no reply.
Thanks to all who tried to help.
Gonna bump this up in hopes someone lives near or visits Wilmington or the islands on the coast of NC. I'm leaving in 10 days.
What will I do without DPC? I'm still trying to figure out a way to find out the topic for the Open challenge that will be issued on 5/29 while I am away.. I've thought of internet cafe's, but I dunno if any are around..

I have travelled to this area quite frequently... some things to see with your camera:
1. USS North Carolina Battleship
2. Ft. Fisher State Park
3. Ft. Fisher Salt Water Aquarium
4. Ft. Fisher / Southport Ferry
5. Carolina Beach Marina
6. Riverfront area in Wilmington
Just for starters.. once you get there, you won't run out of interesting sights :)

If you drive out to Ft. Fisher, be sure to stay on the pavement unless you have 4wd. The sand down there is nasty. If you do have 4wd with some decent ground clearance, take a drive on the beach at the south end of the island... |

This photo is the reason I became addicted to this site. It's reason enough to visit all by itself. |
