Given the choice would like to have the power to fly or become invisible?
This is a basic question that tests part of the essence of us. As I understand it most children would choose flight as this symbolises a positivness and extroverted nature, whereas invisibility is far more introverted and suited to the less innocent darker types that like to sneak around :)
I did a quick search in the internet and there seems to be a few links that cover this question - I've not read them so the above paragraph is based purely on my interpretation. I heard the question recently on a radio programme.
Myself, without hesitation I'd choose invisibilty.

Aww... do we have to choose between just those two superpowers? Dammit, I wanted say telekenesis :o) If I had to choose, I'd go for... I dunno, they're both pretty cool... *flips a coin* invisibility it is!

| Hmm... power line hazards and bugs in the face or a round the clock collision target for anything that moves? Tough call. |

Ironically, that's one of the major reasons why I chose invisibilty :)

...and just think of all the great expressions you'd get from people staring at a camera floating in the air. |

How long would the flight last? Do you have to be able to run 100 miles to be physically fit enough to fly 100 miles? Or is it like birds and can migrate pretty far in stops?
How long does the invisibility last? Do you have to be naked to go invisible?
I wouldnt want to fall to my death because my arms got tired or get pneumonia and die because I went naked in the winter! |

Or have the invisibility suddenly fail and you end up buck nekkid in front of a large group of people.
But I'd still choose invisibility. |

| I would definitely choose flight. I always determined the length of your ability by comparing it to a jog, not a run or walk, but a good pace, maybe 5mph. And when you fly, you don't flap your arms or whatever, it's kinda like Superman. |

ok thread crasher here.......
DRIVE........
but really flight since it would make for some very pretty scen photography.....(i'm not really that much into candids and while u would be invisable your camera would be floting around totaly visible)
so flight.........
also in histroy (back before i was home schooled) we studied i think it was Airostotle (sp) but it may have been Plato, anyway that is where the base for the lord of the rings comes from.-
A farmer (in greese) is out tending his fields and while digging a hole he finds a ring cast down by the gods. This ring gives him the power to turn as so know1 not even the gods can see him..........
As soon as he finds this out he takes it off and cast it a way from him.......
Aristotle asked his followers; why?
the answer is even if u where not seen bye any1 else u still would know what ever u did and u would have to live with your self.....
it could be brought up that the ring can be used for good.....but Aristotle would have given this as the answer to that; Humon nature will inevidbuly take control and as we are humon and not something suprior we would fall maybe 1ce maybe 2ice but never the less fall into temtation at some point and time and it is better to forget that the ring existed then to even risk putting it on for good or for bad.
with that said i choose flight but i would really rather just be able to......
DRIVE!!!!! since i bike everywhere not and chicago is cold (geting warmer but still cold)
so the question is answered from me.....and once again the thread crasher and waxer of the pholiosophical has struck with the premiss of of good vs. evil......
_bran(hey look a ring)do_
also the lord of the rings by JRR Tolkin was hevely based off this parrible (by Aristotle) and Tolkin bent it so it was seen to be bad from the start so no 1 had to think hard on the origions of the ring it was made to break man......(ok i'm really done now)
......update.......

Flight! Ever have a dream of flying? not in a plane but actual flying. I have and I know most have. A peaceful free feeling. And just think of the photo opportunities you would have. POV's that no one else would have access to, unless they could fly aswell.

Invisibility, withouth a doubt. Of course, what you are wearing and carrying (camera), has to become invisble as well.

I think that flight may not be as much fun as people believe it to be. Flight seems like a lot of fun to us because we can't do it. But look at birds; they don't fly unless they absolutely have to. They will walk around on the ground or on tree branches and only take to the air to surmount an obstacle such as a fence, or to escape a would-be predator, or perhaps to snatch a tasty dragonfly out of the air. Migratory birds don't migrate because they enjoy the long flights, but to assure themselves of an adequate food supply with as little competition as possible from other species. You will never see birds flying around just for the sheer enjoyment of it; it's a chore for them.
I remember one day I saw 2 pigeons that wanted to cross North Clark St. in Chicago. They wanted to walk across and were walking along the curb while glancing sideways into the street looking for a break in the traffic so they could walk across. Well, Clark St. is a very busy street and there was no break in the traffic. Finally, after a couple of minutes the pigeons got disgusted (pigeons show their emotions very well with their facial expressions) and flew across Clark St. at as low an altitude as possible to clear the traffic and immediatly went back to walking when they reached the other side. |

You really need to get out once in a while. Perhaps watching pidgeons might give one that impression, but to say a bird doesn't like to fly is like saying a hound dosn't like to hunt. If you are really of that oppinion, then it is a much bigger world then you might think.

I'd choose flight for sure. If I want to be invisible (to be left alone), I'd just fly to some remote location.
To frychikn:
I guess even flying can become a bore, so walking makes a nice change.
Besides since we would need magic POWERS to do fly, those power would of course ensure that the flight is effortless, bugfree, temperature controlled, safe etc etc etc. |
