Hi all. I am curious about your favourite subject and styles. What are you best at and why ? I am still a beginner so I cannot say that I am particularly good at anything specific. I like macro shots most but since I am not so good with Macro I still need some practise. Also portrait shots are something I haven't really touched at all. I like vivid colour but also like a great b&w shot. What about you ??

Hi Justin, I actually thought it would be landscapes and seascapes for me. I hated taking pictures of people, then I took some of a model friend and bang, I started to love it. Now I have just done a live gig, loads of fun. I am also doing Rugby. So people all the way now.

I shoot outdoors as opposed to studio shots, although I'd like more practice with studio-type shots. I mostly shoot waterfalls...because there are quite a few available and they are beautiful. :-) I enjoy shooting people (with my camera, mostly) but haven't had many opportunities. I'm a big fan of b&w but don't produce much of it, myself.

I have more a favorite approach than a favorite subject; I'm into natural light. I almost never light anything, except occasionally for a challenge, and even then I tend to use my North skylight.
I shoot more landscapes than anything else, by far, though.

Shoot what ever strikes your fancy! I personally shoot more landscapes & macro than anything else, but love the challenge of shooting what I̢۪m the least comfortable with.
What I will NOT shoot, at least not for the DPC, are photos of pets, kids or any subject intending selective colorization. Those subjects/techniques are already EXTREMELY WELL COVERED HERE.
I would suggest keep hammering at the macro. The technical aspects of macro will only improve your overall photography skills. |

I love nature and particular macro shots. I find more often than not I always end up putting the pro 1 in super macro mode. It opens up a whole new perspective on subjects that most of us wouldn't normally see , and I find that fascinating ! As an animal lover I can't resist a good portrait of the subject particularly in the wild. Capturing that rare moment would be a highlight. If I'm surrounded by breathtaking scenery...well there is no stopping me there either :-)

I mostly enjoy when I capture a great candid shot of people laughing. I always try to make people laugh for a shot by counting 1-2-and then make a quick joke as I fire. Works every time.
A laugh beats a smile by a mile.

I love nature...especially animals or plants/flowers. I just don't feel comfortable with people shots. But as strange as that is, 6 of my top 10 finishes have all been people. Go figure! :o)

I love going out a stalking birds in their natural environment. Can't say as I'm real good as yet but I'm getting better. They are harder to get out in nature than you might imagine.
Would like to do more macro and candids in the future. Just do what makes you happy.

black and white/sepia, children's candid expressions, anything out of the ordinary. |

I liked new aged poses, and my best friend/girlfriend is my favorit model for them. Lots of "over the shoulder shots" and things with long shutter speeds and movement of light. I really just enjoy playing with light in general I guess.

I'm an available light photographer. For me wildlife photography is the most relaxing. My child portraiture is the most rewarding and seems to be where I excel. Urban landscapes also appeal to me, but as I live 100 miles from the nearest city I would rate it a distant third.

What is macro? I like to shoot mostly little odd things that you encounter everyday that most people walk by and don't notice, if that makes any sense! |

macro is close-up detail of your subject. I can go as close as 2cm. |

Wow, does that depend on the type of camera/lens you are using? |

My tastes vary. Actually, I like taking photos that are painterly, and for that I can use many different subjects and styles. However, flowers and foliage do produce the best effects when using camera movement as the tool to produce painting-like effects.
Otherwise, I like landscapes and buildings for natural abstracts best. |

anything..........
B&W is my fav. IMO if u can take a good color u have taken an poor b&w so i work on trying take the best black and white shot i can....
subject??.....anything......i am 1 of those ppl. that truly believes that there is art in everything, every fasit of a dimond sparkles and every thing that is a part of life does too....it is my job to find the right angle and so others may see as i do.....
with that said anything as long as i can capture it or some part of it in my shot is my fav. subject at least for the moment at which i take it...if it where not i would be incapibile of moving others and when that happens i will no longer be a photographer.
my fav. subject is art.....and as ther is art in everything, everything is my fav. subject....

I think I've found I lack the skill to create a good photo from nothing...I can't just look at a building and portray a mood or a feeling. I can't just take a picture looking down the road and make it come across as interesting.
Therefore, I think my style is developing into shooting live things or occurences. I want to catch that look on an animal's face that tells a story or catch the animal doing that one thing that most people probably have never seen them do. Of course occurences will do too -- like a car rolling down a hill or something like that would be alright :-D

I love telling stories. Right now the story I like telling most is the story of the city of Washington DC. I've got a city full of photogenic sighs and people. Major news happens here every day, and I can catch those moments.
I spend a good bit of time trying to show everyone just how beautiful this city is.
Clara-and then of course there's my cats.
