Maybe deviantart.com would be a better place for a surreal photo competition.

Yeah, because by all means, we wouldn't want to just do a challenge to have fun and see what kind of crazy things people could come up with, every once in awhile. :-/

why wouldn't DPC be a good place for a surreal challenge?

Good idea! And a suggestion: on basic editing rules to pout the mind to work more :)

Yeah, we should do that once in a while. But not all the time. But surrealism lends itself well to the kinds of editing and tools that are illegal here. You could do a much better job of immitating Dali using those tools and techniques.

I think a surreal contest that had to stay based in real photography would be great. Granted when people think of surreal they think of Misha Gordin type work, but surreal is possible with standard photographic techniques. I would be up for that...

All you need is to concentrate on the challenge you want very, very hard... and some fairy dust ;)

This has got to be a record, less than 24 hours from suggestion to the start of the challenge.

Challenges are scheduled many weeks in advance, what a coincidence! :)
