I don't know if there is an official page for him or not, but here is an unofficial one:
//www.gonzo.org/
It has not yet been updated with the news of his passing.
He was certainly one wild character.

When he wrote journalism, during and just after the air force days, he was one of the best natural writters I ever read. Going to re-read the great white shark hunt. A great talent wasted, then lost.
If you don't know him he is also featured as Zonker's uncle Duke, in Doosbury, only about 99% taken from Thompson's appearance, life, behavior.

I am very sorry to hear that, he was one of my favorite author. Benicio Del Toro (who played in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) will be directing the second movie from Thopson's novels: "The Rum Diaries" and yes, the great Johnny Depp will be in it too.
Anyways, I'm off to read about the death of this great american author.

That's a shock. I was actually acquainted with Hunter Thompson in the late 60'/early 70's. he was a hell of a guy to hang out with, sigh. I haven't seen him in 30 years, and i guess i never will again, now.
RIP indeed.

Yup:
Hunter S. Thompson, the maverick journalist and author whose savage chronicling of the underbelly of American life and politics embodied a new kind of nonfiction writing he called "gonzo journalism," died yesterday in Colorado. Tricia Louthis, of the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office, said Mr. Thompson had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in Woody Creek, Colo., yesterday afternoon. He was 65.

This is his most recent writing.
He was one of my favotite writers way back when...
I met Ralph Steadman, HSTs illustrators a year back and told me some great stories about the both of them. A good deal of reality was in his fiction.
Rest In Peace |
