I have to inform the community about the passing away of may camera
After a long and agonizing sufferingand after took me through many challenges it finally happened:
Last breath and bit of my dearest A70 heart (CCD)
Since I got the stock fever I think I just got a nice abstract background generating machine.
Tonight I will submit this one to some stock sites to see the feedback :-)
This is after I decided to force her (to the death) and procure some money from stock photography and save for a dSLR. Seems that the very little I have saved will go either to a new CCD (100$) or to another consumer digicam.
The most sad part is that I don't have the money for a replecement.
At least with the Self Portrait and Bridge challenges going on I can reach the beautiful age of 50 entries (both scores are in the 6's)
Thank you for the beautiful thoughts that might come.

Although I've never gone through something so aweful, I feel your pain. What a tragedy! I don't know what I would ever do if my dear Digital Rebel died such a horrible and painful death. Actually, I would probably mourn for a couple hours and then ask the gods to bless me with a 20D...but that's not the point. Are you gonna give it a proper christian burial? Where shall I send the flowers?
June
PS... I just could not resist!!! Sorry!

I don't know. I was planning for a dSLR late this year. I really like the Panasonic FZ20.
I think I'll just change the CCD for A70 (80$) and squize everything out it, while keep on saving for a dSLR

I feel relatively safe with my camera. Comprehensive insurance in and out of the home plus 5 years warranty (4 of those replacement warranty if it needs it). The joys of leasing! :) |

Wow, it's not as many as I would have thought...Is it a normal lifetime for a ccd, then? I'm already at 5000! |

Is 9,800 very high? I'll hit 20,000 on my 20D this week... and I got it in October. |

This kinda worries me about my camera, I use it on a daily basis and its only a $150 camera. I have only had it for acouple mounths but I think I am in the 3-4 thousand exposure range. I hope my camera doesn't die. |

FYI- the Powershot A510 is $178 at ibuydigital.com. It's two generations newer than the A70. |

My G2 died after 25000 clicks. The lens mechanism no longer protrudes when you turn it on. Maybe I should have my wife try or give it some viagra. ;) |

How do you keep track of how many photos you've taken with a camera? Is it just a rough guess/estimate, or do you actually keep track? I ask because it seems many DPCers seem to know...

The camera counts to 9999. When I hit 10,000, I start renaming them with a 1 prefix, so I have the frame number and the file name is unique in my filing system. I don't know why they don't keep track of 5 digits rather than only 4 in thesse cameras! |
