I took my camera to take some pics and look what came out. I have my camera for more than 1 year and took around 7500.
I switched the camera off then on couple of times and luckyly it came ok. Then 2 days after I had again the same problem. Turn it off and OK again.
Anyone can help? Is it close to an end?
Thanks!

Wow! Those drippies don't look good. It looks fried from here. I thought "oh, white balance" then I saw the actual pictures - DAYUM. That's toast, my guess.

Looks like corrupt data. Before you trash the camera, try a different (preferrably just-reformatted) memory card and see if that helps.

I was just thinking of buying an A70 for someone : (

Good luck!

I think it's one of 2 things, either;

1. You have a hyperdoogie pangalaxian melting ray attached to your camera(and a white balance problem)

or

2. Your camera is dying

I think that the odds tip slightly in favour of option 2

Anybody remember the scene from ghostbusters 2 with the portrait of Vigo that contained the tunnel of oozing slime? These pics remind me of just that. Bizarre!

I don't believe it is the memory card, it is the camera.
It looks like it is having problems clocking out the CCD.

I would contact Canon and get an estimate as to the cost to
fix it.

If you have tried everything else you could try hitting it on
the side and see if it comes back, it might be a loose connection
in the camera. I would only do this if you are really ready to
dump it in the trash.

Yikes!

Sorry to say that but I think your CCD is dead...I'd keep the camera for taking weird pictures though! Interesting effects and completely LEGAl according to DPC rule! :D

The camera seems to be alright now after couples of turns it on/off. I will try again tomorrow see if it is ok.
I am really worried!

Are you living with ghosts?

You probably just didn't have the back completely shut and partially exposed the film. Yikes!

Or maybe the film was too old Hahaha
Seriously! Anybody knows what this could be?

I'm going to have nightmares tonight...thanks...

seriously, those pictures are really, really spooky! I think the cam is dying, but I'd keep it around for the great effects it creates... you never know when you'll need something like for a challenge here!

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me...

it would first turn purple and then turn streaky and it might be alright if you reboot it. Then it got worse, the purple streaks wouldn't go away. Finally, the entire thing died...

The repair dealer quoted around 200 Canadian... i could have gotten an A75 for 300, so I didn't fix it. I had about 10,000 shots on it. Seems like they self destruct around there now...

Sorry about shooting your hopes down, on the bright side, your camera might just get better... :)

I just sold my A70 and I've had it for a little over a year. I can't say I've ever seen anything like it. Truly strange. And judging by my unsuccessful search results, it may be an isolated case.

Sorry, dude. But the effects are truly spooky.

I am scared to use it anymore.
On the other side, even if I have financial problems, I started to consider a Rebel or D70...
It's nice to dream!
Thanks for your answers

clearly those people are aliens and your camera sees them as they truely are.

Can I borrow that? I think perhaps I'm the only human here at work and I'd like to confirm that.

Thanks aKiwi! I will read them carefully.
I almost forgot I have seen you on forums.powershot-a.com and that you were one of the A70 team (high rated photos, too)
Thanks again.

God! They are my friends and worse: my wife and my daughter. I'll take a self portrait and check. Who knows? :)
Only if I get the 300D (or even the A95).

There is something on those threads that really took a stone away from my heart:

After some weeks of experimentation and discovery I know now that this is a battery problem. My two sets of batteries are both a little weak. One is 1700Ma the other only 1200Ma. When either gets to about half full, and if the camera has not been used for a while and capacitors need to be recharged and things need to warm up, they lack the grunt to power the camera under hard usage and the purple fuzz appears. The cure was simply a nice new set of 2000 Ma NiMh batteries.

My batts are as old as the camera. It's maybe time to replace them before I replace the camera.
Thanks aKiwi! Hope is only this!
